As an active social and environmental justice organization, JUUstice Washington will likely be called upon—by its members and partners and allies—to support and/or lend its endorsement to various causes, events, and legislation. While this is generally considered to be within the normal course of conducting business, there are some limitations to be aware of and guidelines to be followed. All position statements are the reflections of the Board only, not the general membership.
Some of the more common position statements that JUUstWA. can include:
Official endorsements of legislation. Partners and allies may request that we endorse or oppose in writing specific pieces of legislation.
Signatory To Letters To Officials. Partners and allies may request that we become signatory to letters to governmental agency and/or administrative officials on a specific issues.
Amicus Briefs. Partners and allies may request that we become a signatory on an amicus brief which is reporting a position to the courts on a specific court case.
Statement of Support. Partners and allies may request that we officially recognize and commit to supporting or opposing a specific concept, issue or action.
