These are not ordinary times. So, this year, Northwest UU Justice Network and Washington UU Voices for Justice are planning a justice summit targeted towards evolution — organizationally and individually.
The 2018 Summit will be:
A summit designed to bring together activists and representatives from UU congregations across Washington State and beyond.
A summit for us to rekindle and recommit to both our individual and collective work for justice.
A summit to launch a new organization, JUUstice Washington, that will:
- Emphasize advocacy and action.
- Promote equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in our justice work, through our educational efforts, and in the very fabric of our organization.
- Understand and effectively respond to the intersectionality of issues.
A summit to forge strong, new working relationships and develop state-wide Issue & Advocacy teams.
A summit that helps us prepare to work with others allied with our causes, especially those with whom we are not yet in right relationship.
This is a summit for this time. A summit to reset our trajectory. As one planner put it, “a summit to recommit to impacting the futures of our children, our state, our nation, our planet, all peoples, all beings.”
