New Organization, All in Washington, to Support Relief for Undocumented Workers with Matching Funds

May 29, 2020 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project has been proud to partner with the Washington Dream Coalition (WDC) and its COVID-19 Relief Fund for Undocumented Individuals in Washington State. This fund is already providing critical support to thousands of families in Washington who do not have access to unemployment insurance system or federal stimulus payments. WDC  is joining forces with a coordinated, statewide relief effort known as All in Washington, which will provide an opportunity for all new donations to the Relief Fund to be matched. We want to encourage you to support this effort. As a reminder, all donations to this critical program will go directly to the relief fund for undocumented families run by WDC and not to support NWIRP’s programs.

As you know, COVID-19 continues to disproportionately impact our Latinx community and our essential workers who are suffering without adequate protections. Latinx individuals make up over 30% of all COVID-19 positive cases, while only making up about 12% of our state’s population. In our state, about 75% of our undocumented community is Latinx. A community made up of over 250,000 Washingtonians who don’t even have the option to file for unemployment. Today, we are once again asking for your support and have exciting news to share; your new donations will be matched thanks to our partnership with All in Washington!
