MAY 1, 2019 (Bellingham)
In August 2018, 16 workers were detained by ICE in Bellingham while on their way to work. Nearly eight months later, 9 of those workers have been deported and 7 are awaiting hearings to gain visas and work permits. None of the men who were released on bond are allowed to work until those hearings go through. All of the families affected by this raid have been living without an income since the raid happened.
This benefit will honor the workers in our community who are facing detention and deportation everyday. There will be live music, a silent auction, and a panel discussion with the workers whose lives were interrupted by ICE last year. Come stand in solidarity with these families and learn more about the challenges for undocumented workers in Bellingham. 7:00 pm. Appetizers, beer and wine will be provided.
The event will be at Local Group Studio, 221 Prospect Street Bellingham.
