Faith Communities Asked to Oppose Public Charge Rule

November 30, 2018 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Faith Action Network of Washington is putting forward the call to faith communities to oppose DHS Docket No. USCIS-2010-0012, RIN 1615-AA22, Comments in Response to Proposed Rulemaking: Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds.  This proposed change could impact over 533,000 people, including 205,000 children, in Washington State alone.

Faith leaders urge all people of faith, whose diverse faith traditions call for protection of immigrants as well as the poor and vulnerable people, to speak out against this rule change proposal during the sixty day comment period.

This expansion of the public charge rule will have a devastating impact on families and our faith communities. Our faith traditions teach us to affirm the basic needs and rights of our neighbors. We must demand our government do the same!
